This position will be heavily involved in implementing a new data model on a new MySQL Enterprise platform, including working with our Data Architect to complete the data migration. Additionally, this position will be responsible for maintaining the health and performance of our databases, for providing MySQL guidance and best practice knowledge, and for troubleshooting and repairing break/fix scenarios. The working environment will contain MySQL Enterprise 5.x, Red Hat Linux Enterprise 4.x/5.x, and related technologies. - Preventive maintenance, monitoring, and planning for our database environments
- Response to and resolution of break/fix issues within defined SLA's
- Performance tuning of our database environments
- Serve as MySQL SME for projects and planning
- Provide training and instruction to other technical users
- Participation in and execution of certain duties within our release process
- Participation in and execution of database migration tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications - 4 year degree in Computer Science or other related field, or equivalent experience (4 years in addition to other experience requirements listed)
- 4 years of MySQL administration experience working on multi server production systems
- 2 years of Linux administration experience (Red Hat preferred)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal, written, and electronic)
- Excellent collaborative and team skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience implementing new database platforms
- Experience in clustered or distributed environments
- Experience with MySQL replication
- Experience in migrating databases
- MySQL Associate Certification (CMA) or MySQL DBA Certification (CMDBA)
