All Star Since:
As Social Media Manager, Charissa’s primary goal is to grow All Star’s reach and expand its community on social media.
Charissa recently finished her master’s in communication at the University of Washington, where she learned the complexities of communities and networks. She says her takeaway lesson was every individual and group must be considered in developing communication strategies and creating content.
Prior to earning her master’s, Charissa received her bachelor’s in economics from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines.
As a student, she worked with organizations such as the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, The Seattle Globalist, Catholic Community Services of Western Washington, eScience Institute, and RingCentral. Before graduate school, Charissa worked with the United Nations Migration Agency in the Philippines. The common thread, she says, in her work at all the agencies was to communicate the organization’s values through website and social media content such as videos, photographs, graphics, and articles.
Her favorite part of working at All Star is the sense of openness and collaboration.
Charissa is a member of the Asian-American Journalists Association, where her goal is to use her voice and perspective to uplift underrepresented communities. She uses her platform to shed light on their stories.
In her spare time, Charissa loves cooking, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
