All Star Since:
As a member of the content team, Sheila works with other editors and writers to create stories and informational pages for All Star Directories’ family of websites.
Prior to All Star, she was a freelance writer for many years, focusing mainly on the architecture, engineering, and construction sectors. Sheila was also a contract writer for Microsoft and Premera Blue Cross and wrote lifestyle features for a number of online and print publications, including Crosscut, Actively Northwest, Seattle magazine, and Zillow’s Porchlight blog. Before that, she was the editor of a McGraw-Hill-owned regional construction trade publication called Northwest Construction. Early in her journalism career, she was a reporter for weekly newspapers in Raymond (Pacific County), Washington, and Bothell, Washington.
Her favorite part about working at All Star is being a member of a fun and enthusiastic team. “I love that everyone is passionate about their work and obviously love what they do.”
Sheila received a degree in Journalism from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, before the success of its basketball team made Gonzaga a household name. Go Zags!
Every year around the holidays Sheila makes chocolate truffles and sells them to friends, family and neighbors, noting, “I use the proceeds to augment my fundraising for the Young Survival Coalition’s annual ‘Tour de Pink’ bike ride. I have participated in this three-day, 200-mile ride since 2013, which raises money to support young women affected by breast cancer.”
Outside of work Sheila loves to cook and bake. “My idea of a perfect weekend is making an elaborate cake that takes all day. I also love visiting coffeeshops with friends, trying new restaurants, running, bike riding (indoor and outdoor), and spending time with my husband and 17-year-old son.”
