Dave serves as All Star’s General Counsel & Secretary in addition to his duties as a member of the company’s Board of Directors.
Dave joined All Star as its General Counsel in June 2010.
From 2000 – 2010, Dave served as General Counsel, Secretary and for several years, VP of Business Development, of Aptimus, Inc., a digital marketing network serving a broad spectrum of industries that was acquired by Apollo Group, Inc. in 2007. From 1996 – 2000, Dave was the General Counsel & Secretary of Ride, Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of globally-distributed adrenaline sports consumer goods, handling all legal and regulatory affairs from its IPO to its eventual sale to K2, Inc. From 1994 – 1996, Dave was General Counsel & Secretary of Egghead, a computer hardware and software reseller, managing all legal and regulatory matters for the company. Dave began his legal career as an associate attorney at the Seattle-based law firms Lane Powell and Stanislaw Ashbaugh (1990 – 1994), advising on M&A, real estate, employment and a broad range of corporate law issues, following a two-year clerkship with Washington State Superior Court Judge, Warren Chan.
Dave brings over 25 years of comprehensive legal counsel and executive management experience to his role at All Star. The two and a half years Dave spent at Apollo Group just prior to joining All Star, serving as the chief legal officer of the subsidiary entity responsible for all marketing, media, business intelligence and new product development for the University of Phoenix and its sister schools, have provided Dave unmatched sector-relevant experience and insight. Dave synthesizes his broad business experience and deep sector-specific focus with strong technical lawyering to craft solutions that advance the shared interests of the company, its customers and its users and achieve effective and compliant outcomes.
Dave enjoys working at All Star for several reasons, with their shared genesis being the company’s commitment to business integrity and “doing the right thing.” These fundamental attributes permeate every aspect of our business and inform how we treat our school customers, our education-seeking users, our business partners, our work colleagues and our community.
Dave’s educational background includes a J.D. from the University of Oregon and a B.A. in History from Whitman College. He is a member of the Board of Directors of All Star Directories, Inc., Member, Vice President and President-elect of the Mercer Island Beach Club Board of Trustees and serves as a coach for the Mercer Island Youth Soccer Association. Outside of work, Mr. Davis enjoys spending time with his family, skiing and cycling.
